Uncommon Practice
Doctors whose lives took a shape nobody planned for them.
From the editors
There is a standard shape to a medical life, and most of us are told about it early: the entrance exam, the degree, the postgraduate seat, the job, the practice. Plenty of doctors live it and are glad they did.
This collection is about the ones whose lives bent another way, by choice or by accident. They are not escape stories. Most of these doctors still practise. They have simply arranged medicine around a life, rather than the other way round.
